Last sunset 2004 - Manila, Philippines. This photo was taken from the rooftop of my apartment... December 31, 2004... I've been staying in this apartment building for almost three years now and I must have dozens of photos taken from the same spot... this particular photo made me decide not to celebrate New Years Eve in mourning and respect to the hundreds of thousands of families that lost there loved ones in the recent tsunami incidents in Asia and parts of Africa... on a clear day I can see the Manila Bay coastline from the same spot... I started wondering... was the Philippines spared from such a disatrous event... or are we next in line... Philippines is not a stranger to disaster... floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, terrorism, corrupt government / politicians... quite rcently thousands of people lost there lives in a flooding incident due to illegal logging... there were no longer trees to hold massive boulders and soil from the mountains ... we were not spared from a major disaster... we had our own version... I wish all a better year un 2005... ONE LOVE, ONE LANGUAGE ONE PEACE!!!

can you believe you were in so many of those places hit by the disasters? i really would love to see your photos from those locations.

and manila at sunset is my favorite time. i had a cig on the rooftop of the shang - and then just looked over my shoulder and was like WWWWAAAAAH - it was so beautiful.

and...i didn't have a camera. :disbelief:
